Hello Family!!!! So we are STILL homeless......but S (the 75 year old lady) got the house!!!! So we will be moving in probably sometime this week! Transfers are this week so we will have been out of our area for half of our transfer!!! haha crazy...but somehow God is blessing us and we are gettin a lot of work done in Le Mars!:) Well church was cancelled yesterday because it was -35 with the wind chill....and someone broke into the church or somethin too? We dont really know what happened....and then today it is -50 with the wind chill!!!!! its AWFUL!!! haha we are told to stay inside!!! But I have been able to see a lot of miracles this week. We have gone up to Le Mars 3 times this week....and have been able to give lessons over the phone. L is doing AMAZING. She is actually keeping her commitments!! YAY! I have a deal going with her to stop hooking up with guys and smoking, if she will read a chapter of the Book of Mormon instead...haha its working!!! haha so funny. Then J..(the 23 year old mexican....who was gonna get baptized) all of a sudden called us up freaking out that we were of satan and the Book of Mormon is a book against God...and this horrible thing went down...long story short we aren't teaching him anymore:) It's sad how Satan just gets ahold of people right when they are about to do somethin REALLY good.
I have been able to have a bunch of new experiences being up here in Sioux City. I have been on exchanges with Sister G and have been able to speak a little spanish!! Its been cool because downtown Sioux City is super ghetto and lots and lots of poverty....so we have been able to meet these amazing humble people who cook you HUGE amounts of food...and then they don't eat it. They fast ALL day just to feed us. It's amazing. Then we have also been able to meet this one family, the B's. They are AMAZING. They moved here from Africa a couple years ago. They taught us how to do some African dancing! Haha I LOVE it here. Well sorry I don't have much time to tell about my experiences...there has been SO many but I did want to share a story that I have been able to share countless times while being out here. It means so much to me and I really hope it will do the same for you. It's not a real story but the message is powerful. It's about this man who was sleeping at night in his cabin when the Savior appeared to him. The Lord told the man that he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. This the man did, day after day. For many years he did this constantly, giving it his all. Each night the man returned to his cabin, sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Noticing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the mans tired mind. "You have been pushing against this rock for a long time, and it hasn't budged. Why kill yourself over this? You are NEVER going to move it." This made the man think that this task was impossible and that he was a failure. He decided that he would just push the rock with minimum effort and that will be good enough. He did this for many days, and then finally decided to take his thoughts to the Lord. "Lord," he said, "I have worked long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even been able to budge that rock. What is wrong? Why am I failing?" The Lord responded, "My Friend, When I asked you to serve me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your hands are callused from constant pressure, and your legs have become massive and strong. Through opposition you have grown much and your abilities are so much more. Yet you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in my wisdom. This you have done. I, my friend, will now move the rock." At times when we have trials put in front of us...we think of them as impossible and hard,....something that wont even budge. You work and work, but the trial is still there. You pray for the trial to be moved...but it doesn't. God put that rock, or that trial in front of you...to make you stronger. He knows what's best for each of us, and he knows what we need to go through to turn us into the people he wants us to become. All he requires is for us to PUSH. Exercise faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still GOD who moves the mountains. When everything seems to get down or go wrong...just PUSH. When people don't react the way you want them too...just PUSH. Pray Until Something Happens. That's what PUSH means. Then God will move your mountain:) I hope all is going well in each of your lives and I can't thank you all enough for the love and support! I pray for each of you every night and love you and miss you all sooo much!!!
